UTICA, N.Y. — It’s official: Congressman Richard Hanna is the Independence Party’s candidate for the general election in November.
Hanna filed paperwork to accept the Independence Party line, which he has obtained each year since he first ran for Congress. During the petition process, Hanna submitted nearly 1,750 signatures – more than 550 signatures more than the minimum 1,187 requirement.
The 22nd Congressional District includes all of Oneida, Madison, Cortland and Chenango counties, as well as part of Oswego, Herkimer, Broome and Tioga counties. The Independence Party previously endorsed Richard Hanna in 2008, 2010 and 2012. The Independence Party pursues “pro-business policies, fiscally sound government practices and a rational energy agenda that emphasizes independence and fosters economic prosperity for all.”
“It is a privilege to once again run on the Independence line,” Hanna said. “Since 2008, I have proudly been endorsed by the Independence Party, and I look forward to again being its candidate this November.”
