HERKIMER, N.Y.(WKTV) Congressman Richard Hanna says it’s an honor to attend as many events as he can this Memorial Day weekend to honor our nation’s veterans.
Saturday morning, the republican from Barneveld attended a ceremony in Herkimer honoring five men from Herkimer County who previously had been bestowed the highest award of valor they could receive, the Medal of Honor.
A plaque was unveiled on Saturday which now sits in front of the Herkimer County Office Building on Mary Street.
That plaque displays the names of the five men and a synopsis of why each received the Medal of Honor.
After Saturday’s ceremony, Hanna was headed to Binghamton, a city he hasn’t spent much time campaigning in before.
