Hanna Highlights 2014 Accomplishments

I had a busy year across the 22nd Congressional District, and I am honored to have the opportunity to continue working on your behalf for another two years.

In the coming weeks, I will begin discussing my vision for next year. First, I want to share with you some of the accomplishments my office achieved in 2014.

Please take a few minutes to review the highlights of my work. Together we can and will continue to improve the economy for upstate New York families and businesses.

2014 Accomplishments

Provided support for Tioga County’s Lockheed Martin facility which will help build helicopters for both the Presidential fleet and combat rescue missions.

Supported a $1.3 million grant for Tri-Cities Airport to rehabilitate its runway.

Helped Remington Arms win a $15 million contract to provide rifles to the Armed Forces of the Philippines.

Passed a long-term Farm Bill to give certainty and support to farmers and small businesses throughout the 22nd Congressional District.

Helped the Greater Binghamton Airport receive more than $1 million to improve its facility.

Supported Binghamton University’s Decker School of Nursing grant of $120,000 to address the shortage of mental health professionals assisting youth and young adults.

Supported long-term funding for stream gages on the Susquehanna River and the Owego Creek to help address local flooding concerns.

Announced that Chase Field airport in Cortland County won a $225,000 from the Federal Aviation Administration for new snow removal equipment.

Secured approval of the permit from the Army Corps of Engineers for a nanotechnology chip fabrication facility near Utica.

Supported Griffiss International Airport’s successful $6.3 million grant from the Federal Aviation Administration to make facility upgrades.

Announced a $3 million grant for the Workforce Investment Board of Herkimer, Madison and Oneida counties to provide high-tech training to job seekers.

Strongly supported the launch of the new unmanned aircraft system test site in Rome, bringing new economic activity and jobs to the region.

Expanded the Greek yogurt pilot program in schools that helps Chobani and gives children more nutritious lunch options.

Approved new water infrastructure bill that will help increase economic investment and create jobs at the Port of Oswego.

Supported a successful grant of $546,000 for the City of Oneida’s Rail Trail project.

Assisted the City of Norwich in obtaining a federal loan and grant replace the city’s water storage tank and create a new storm water retention basin.
