UTICA, N.Y. — The National Rifle Association Political Victory Fund (NRA-PVF) has endorsed Richard Hanna for Congress in the Republican primary election for New York’s 22nd Congressional District.
The NRA said Hanna earned the endorsement based on his “consistent and proven voting record on Second Amendment issues in the the U.S. House of Representatives,” and issued him an “A” rating.
An “A” rating is reserved for “solidly pro-gun legislators who have supported NRA positions on key votes.”
“On behalf of our five million members across the country, the National Rifle Association Political Victory Fund (NRA-PVF) is proud to endorse Richard Hanna’s candidacy for the U.S. House of Representatives,” said James J. Baker, Director of Federal Affairs for NRA-PVF.
Hanna, who is a gun owner and lifetime member of the NRA, opposes the NY SAFE Act and is the leading advocate in Congress for Remington Arms, based in Ilion, N.Y.
“It is a privilege to once again have earned the support of the NRA,” Hanna said. “Gun ownership is not only a right enshrined in our Constitution, but a way of life for many of us in upstate New York. I will continue to work diligently at the federal level to protect our Second Amendment rights.”
The 22nd Congressional District is comprised of all or part of eight counties in upstate New York. Whole counties include: Chenango, Cortland, Madison and Oneida. Partial counties include: Broome, Herkimer, Oswego and Tioga.
Hanna is a businessman with more than 30 years experience in upstate New York. Prior to being elected to Congress in November 2010, he had never served in public office.
