Rep. Richard Hanna appointed to House panel overseeing FAA, drone research

WASHINGTON — U.S. Rep. Richard Hanna picked up a key subcommittee assignment today that will give him oversight of the Federal Aviation Administration and policies affecting unmanned aircraft systems, or drones.

Rep. Bill Shuster, R-Pa., chairman of the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, appointed Hanna to its Subcommittee on Aviation, which oversees civil aviation, safety, infrastructure, labor, commerce and international issues.

With his new assignment, Hanna, R-Barneveld, will be in a position to help shape policies that will affect drone research conducted in Central New York.
